Why do I need a Professional Organizer?

There are a number of good reasons to work with a professional organizer, not to mention the benefits! A professional organizer provides you with knowledge and expertise in proven organizing methods. We see your situation with a new perspective, the “eyes of a stranger”. When you schedule an appointment, it helps you commit to the project you want to tackle and assure that it will get done. Procrastination over the project will come to an end. It is common to feel overwhelmed. Sometimes the project is not a one-person job. More hands and heads can accomplish the task easier, faster, and with twice the fun!

How does a Professional Organizer work?

All organizing projects require decision making, whether the project consists of setting up a new office, working through a pile of paper, excavating a kitchen counter, or clearing clutter. Personal Organizers help you make the necessary decisions by asking questions, offering advice, and providing hands-on help. We work on-site in your home or office, in a partnership setting with you. The work is “hands-on”.

I want to get organized, but I am embarrassed to let someone see my mess!

You are not alone! You can count on New Life Organizing to be non-judgmental and confidential. Many life situations throw a curve into our lives. Once the balance is upset, a home/work environment can become disorganized quickly. This is a fact of life, and we are here to help you get organized and maintain that order. Please do not worry about your “mess”. You will find us to be only understanding and supportive, not judgmental.

If I get rid of my things, I am afraid that I won’t be able to keep the memories.

People who are very visual may struggle with the fear of loosing the memories that are attached to their things. We understand this emotional connection and work with you in a loving manner at your own pace. You decide what to keep and what to let go of. We offer methods to preserve the memory without keeping the object, which you may utilize for some items. At no time will you be forced to get rid of treasures that are dear to your heart. We ask questions to help you decide what is and isn’t important to you. You are the final decision maker.

It is impossible to stay organized. Why bother?

It is possible to stay organized… you need a system that is built around the way that you think and live. The system needs to be able to adapt to the changes in your life. We are here to help you find and implement that system.

What is NSGCD?

NSGCD, the National Study Group on Chronic Disorganization, is a non-profit organization that serves professional organizers and related professionals who are also interested in the study of chronic disorganization and methods of serving chronically disorganized people.

What is the definition of chronic disorganization?

On their website, NSGCD provides the following definition of chronic disorganization:

Chronic disorganization is having a past history of disorganization in which self-help efforts to change have failed, an undermining of current quality of life due to disorganization, and the expectation of future disorganization.

If I believe I am chronically disorganized, what type of organizer would I choose?

If you are chronically disorganized, it is advisable to work with an organizer who is knowledgeable in chronic disorganization issues.

How do you charge for organizing?

Organizers in Minnesota generally charge in the range of $40 - $100 per hour. We are at the low end of that range. A Needs Assessment for an entire home typically runs 2 ½ - 3 hours. Hands-on organizing is done in several hour increments. All services are payable the day of service. We accept cash or check.
